Navigation Tips

Other Navigation Tips
Q1. How do I find the tool I need?
A1. If you know the functional area (i.e., Human Resources, Sales, Finance, etc.), click on the desired link at the top of any page. Select the "More tools" link from any one of the seven categories where you feel the tool might be listed (People Management, Spreadsheets, Boilerplates, Plans, Presentations, Complete Programs, Checklists and Audits). All available tools will be listed in alphabetical order. Scroll through the list until you find the tool or tools that meet your needs.

If you have keywords that would describe the nature of the tool such as "performance review" or "employee performance", input them into the search field labeled "The tool I want is a __________" and press the Find It button.
Q2. What if I cannot find the tool I want?
A2. If you still cannot find the tool after trying one of the above search methods, select the "Create Tool Wanted Request" link, complete the form, and submit it, being sure to include your email address. We will respond back to you within 24 hours as to the status of your request.
Q3. How do I place an order?
A3. Follow these step to process an order.
  1. To add an item to your shopping cart, click the Add to Shopping Cart icon on any tool's summary or detail page.
  2. To add subsequent items to your shopping cart, simply use the Back Button to return to the last page viewed. Continue shopping from here or jump to another functional area by using the links at the top of the page. When you find the appropriate tool, click the shopping cart icon. Repeat this process until you are done searching for tools.
  3. You may view your shopping cart at any point by using one of the following methods:
    1. click on the shopping cart icon at the left side of the menu bar at the top of any page or
    2. click on the Shopping Cart link at the bottom of any page.
  4. When you've finished selecting your tools, click the "I'm ready to checkout" button at the bottom of the View Your Shopping Cart page.
  5. If you did not login to the MyWorkTools.com site prior to selecting your tools, you will be required to login at this point. When prompted, type in your email address and password information. Once you have input the requested information and pressed Submit, you will be taken to the Tool User Agreement page (if you logged in prior to selecting your tools, you will be taken to the Tool User Agreement page immediately after selecting the "I'm ready to checkout" button).
  6. After you have read the Tool User information, be sure to check the box labeled "I have read the above conditions and accept" before pressing the Accept button.
  7. If you have selected a fee-based tool, you will be asked to provide your billing information. Click the Submit button when done. If you selected a free tool, you will skip this step and be taken immediately to the Congratulations page.
  8. Your order number and links to the requested tools will be displayed. Please note the order number in case you have any problems.
  9. IMPORTANT NOTE: To successfully download your tools, you MUST click on EACH tool link. After you click on a tool link, your browser will let you save the file to your hard drive. Save each file in a directory of your choice. The saved files are compressed files that need to be uncompressed before they can be viewed.
Q4. How do I view the tools once I save them to my hard drive?
A4. The tools are downloaded into a compressed, self-extracting zipped file to save you time during the download process. If this is the first time you are downloading tools from the MyWorkTools.com site, use Explorer to find the file and then double click on it. You will receive a WinZip Self-Extracting message. Select Unzip. Continue this process for all the tools you just downloaded. When the last tool has been unzipped, close this window and go to the newly created MyWorkTools.com folder. It is located at the root of your hard drive. If your hard drive is c:, then the MyWorkTools.com folder is located at c: MyWorkTools.com. Select the desired tool from that directory and you're ready to go!
Q5. I use Netscape as my browser and, when I download a tool, the tool name is a series of letters and numbers (55aaffff000100000025940_mwtAMW000005.exe). What's wrong?
A5. This is a Netscape "quirk" and does not happen when using another browser. Either switch to a different browser or, when using Netscape, look for your latest download. The rest of the process works as described in Q4.
Q6. I am a MAC user and am unable to download your tools. What can I do?
A6. When you are taken to the Congratulations page and given an order number, there is a place to click if you are a MAC, Linux, or Unix user. This signals our Customer Service organization that the selected tools need to be emailed to you. This will be done within 24 hours. If you need them prior to this time frame, please email us at customerservice@myworktools.com or call us at 408-448-2125.
Q7. Why can't a MAC user download the tools?
A7. We apologize for the inconvenience. We currently compress our tools in a format that is only IBM compatible. While we plan to address this concern in the future, our interim solution is to use email.
Q8. I followed the checkout process but I still can't find the tool. What can I do now?
A8. If you are sure you clicked on EACH tool to download them onto your hard drive and you still can't get to them, please send an email to customerservice@myworktools.com. Please include your order number and any error message you may have received.
Q9. I forgot to click on the files I wanted prior to leaving the Congratulations page so they didn't get downloaded. What do I do now?
A9. Send an email to customerservice@myworktools.com. If you printed off or wrote down the order number, include that in the email. Also include your email address and a phone number. We will contact you regarding your order.
Q10. I have logged on and am trying to purchase a tool; however, I keep getting prompted for my email and password. What's wrong?
A10. Try using the following link to login: http://www.myworktools.com/cgi-bin/login.cgi. If you are successful, please do the following:
  • Empty your browser cache
  • Remove your myworktools.com cookies from your browser
  • Close all open browsers

Some sites that are linking to us are using incorrect addresses. You are still able to reach us, but it impacts some of your settings. If the problem persists, please send an email to customerservice@myworktools.com. Include in the email your browser type, browser version, type of computer, and Internet service provider.
Q11. Within each functional area, there are subcategories. How do I know what's in each subcategory?
A11. We try to provide a brief overview of the types of documents found in each section but here is a thumbnail sketch of each:
  • People Management: tools to help motivate, manage, reward, or recognize people
  • Spreadsheets: any tool that is primarily formula-based or that relies heavily on calculations
  • Boilerplates: standardized documents used by most companies that can be easily-modified based on company-specific needs
  • Plans: examples of documents where the subject matter is of a more strategic nature
  • Presentations: samples of actual presentations that have been successfully used in the past; while some are provided to help you with a format or flow of specific information, several of the others are meant to be used with only slight modification
  • Complete Programs: everything you need for a complete solution to a specific problem
  • Checklists and Audits: step-by-step questions or lists to ensure you have considered the major questions surrounding a specific issue or problem
Q12. How are the tool ratings determined?
A12. Initially, the MyWorkTools.com staff rated the tools based on their personal experiences and industry knowledge. In the future, we will have a process by which people who download a given tool will be able to give the tool a rating and provide comments or suggestions regarding subsequent tool revisions.
Q13. How do I know it is safe to pay for a tool with my credit card? What Security measures are in place to ensure the safety of my transaction?
A13.We use a secure server to process all tool download transactions. Our secure server uses the latest SSL technology to protect your credit card information including triple DES encryption using 128 bit keys. We also use the Cybercash CashRegister platform to process all credit card transactions through our secure server channels.
Q14. What credit cards are accepted?
A14. We accept American Express, MasterCard, and Visa. We hope to accept Discover and Diner's Club in the near future. All tool prices are listed in US dollars.
Q15. What is your Privacy Policy? Do you sell information to others?
A15. MyWorkTools.com does not sell or rent any personal information collected on our site, including membership forms and email lists. We do analyze our website logs to constantly improve the value of the materials available on our website. We also make no attempt to link data found in logs to specific individuals browsing the site.
Q16. Where can I find your Privacy Policy online?
A16. Our Privacy Policy can be accessed via a link at the bottom of any page.
Q17. How do I know if a tool is "free" or "fee"?
A17. Each tool's price is clearly stated near the title of the tool on both the tool summary pages and on the tool detail page (Tool Preview page). MyWorkTools.com has a significant number of free tools on the site and, as we increase our tool offerings, it is our intent to always maintain a good portion of the tools for free.
Q18. How do you determine the prices of the fee-based tools?
A18. Our fee-based tools currently carry a price between $1.99 and $29.99. When we make the decision to price a tool, we consider the following:
  • availability
  • completeness
  • depth and breadth relative to other tools on the web
  • uniqueness of tool
  • time it takes to create a similar tool from scratch
  • tool's perceived customer value
Q19. Why should I use your tools?
A19. There are several reasons:
  • Reduced search costs. MyWorkTools.com wants to be your "one-stop" shop for all your business tools and applications so we can save you time and increase your productivity. While we currently have almost 1000 tools on the site, we are constantly looking for new ones based on your feedback and our knowledge of the various functional areas. We will do the legwork so you won't have to.
  • Tool quality (1). Each tool is reviewed by seasoned professionals to determine correctness of information (note, however, that certain state-specific requirements may be needed). Every attempt is made to correct errors and format the tool so you won't spend your time doing this. Additionally, where a tool needs to be modified based on company-specific needs, we have tried to identify those areas so that "search and replace" is made easier.
  • Tool quality (2). Every tool has intelligence built around it. This intelligence, or "metadata," is your first glimpse into the tool's use and applicability to your given situation. The At A Glance section generally provides a one-line summary of the tool; the Background portion provides a more expanded tool summary; the Benefits section indicates how the tool might be used, and the Time ROI tells you about how much time you will be saving using a MWT tool rather than creating one "from scratch".
  • Use "As Is". Many of the MWT tools can be used without modification. Boilerplate tools, some People Management, and several of the Training Tools require little or no modification. This is very important when you need to put together forms or training based on an emergency situation or an 11th hour request!
  • Proven Tools. All of the tools on the site have been used in real business situations and are proven to work. Seasoned employees and consultants with many years in their respective fields have provided the tools.
  • Money-back Guarantee. All tools come with a money-back guarantee. Occasionally, there may be a disconnect between a tool, the metadata, or the purchaser's expectations. Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. If for any reason you are unhappy with any tool purchased from MyWorkTools.com Inc., you may send us an email within 15 days of the purchase date, including the reason for the return in your e-mail. You may receive a full refund, exchange for another tool or obtain a credit for the original purchase price - your choice.
Q20. I have some tools that I have created and believe they could be useful to others. How can I get them on the site?
A20. You can become a Tool Provider by doing the following:
  1. Select Tools Wanted on the Navigation Bar.
  2. Select the Send link
  3. Complete the Submit Tool form, attach your file, read and accept the Tool Provider Agreement, and click Submit.
Your tool will be reviewed using the above-mentioned parameters and, if met, the tool will be included with a future tool update.
Q21. I don't understand the Tool Submit form.
A21. To understand MyWorkTools.com quality standards, select Rewards and, under the Earn Money section, click on the ready link. This will tell you the type of information needed in order to put your tool in a "tool ready" state.
Q22. What are the benefits of becoming a Tool Provider?
A22. Aside from the good feeling you will get by knowing you have helped someone else, for any fee-based tool you provide, you will earn 15% of all net tool revenue while it is on the site. This 15% will be paid out on a quarterly basis, subject to the terms and conditions listed in the Tool Provider Agreement.
Q23. Is there a way to review my prior tool Order History?
A23. Yes. In the left-hand corner of any page, you will see the "Already Registered" folder. Click just below this folder and you will be taken to your personal toolbox summarizing personal information and providing you with a list of Tools Downloaded and Tools Submitted.
